Introducing Future: An American rapper who's just being honest, but who exactly is he?

1I'm going to be honest here, I don't usually tend to listen to much rap music, unless the person's name is either Jay-Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Big Sean or J.Cole. So it was quite unusual when I found myself listening to (and actually liking) Future's music. Legally known as Nayvadius Cash, Future (as he now likes to be called) is an American rapper and singer-songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. His name is derived from the fact that Atlanta-based hiphop collective, The Dungeon Family, used to refer to him as 'The Future' so it was only fitting that it became his stage name. Known for his unique pitch blending, Future is an artist who's instantly recognised on tracks because of the distinctive nature of his auto-tune laden voice. I think that's definitely something that sets him aside from others, the technique does not work for many, but for him it definitely does As an artist that's been heavily involved in the rap industry for a few years, yet relatively unknown to UK audiences, Future is featured on a track that happens to be one of my favourites, Rihanna's 'Loveeeeeee Song' (yes, it does have that many "e's") which is taken from her latest album 'Unapologetic' which he co-wrote and helped to produce. Apart from accomplishment, he's also the writer behind Ciara's number #1 single 'Body Party', which was released back in March, amongst many others. Future, who's slogan is 'Tell the truth or face the future' follows up his motto with his brand new single, 'Honest' which is also the name of his sophomore album due out for release on November 26th this year. 'Honest' is a brutally truthful, confession rife track in which Future raps about his lavish lifestyle, such as spending 100,000 dollars on watches and living like a rockstar. The video for the 'Honest' see's the rapper living the luxurious life, enthralling mansions, super flash cars, endless stacks of gleaming chains, turquoise swimming pools, gold bottles on bottles (as he correctly points out himself), all with an elegant white piano sitting in the background… anything that signifies prosperity and extravagance, you name it, I guess his surname isn't 'cash' for no reason. Future even enlisted the help of former Destiny's Child member, Letoya Luckett, who plays the leading lady in the three and a half minute visual. So there you have it, Future's just being honest, but is honesty really always the best policy? Future's sophomore album 'Honest' is set to be released on 26th November 2013. The lead single, which boasts the same name, is now available to listen to from here. Future will be one of the support acts for Canadian rapper Drake's 'Would you like a tour?' tour, which kicks of on September 25th. For any further information, visit Future's Facebook, follow him on Twitter, or check out his website. Shehnaz Khan is from Royal Leamington Spa, has a slight addiction to concerts, gigs and just music in general. You'd usually find a lot of Beyonce and Rihanna on her iPod, along with the usual R&B, HipHop and Rap. You definitely wouldn't find any 'heavy metal' or shouting whatsoever, because Shehnaz would ideally like to keep her hearing intact.
