To say Wizkid is a kid might be an understatement, but looking at his age, you begin to wonder why some so called celebs don't learn from the mistakes of those before them, who had all the fame and fortunes in their hands but messed up with it. At 23, Wizkid is not too young to father a child, which he has reportedly and allegedly done. To say he's suffering from a half baked-education might not be an excuse because Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and others didn't finish their educations but are world players today. If I am not mistaken, Segun Obe didn't finish from school but he's doing well for himself. 2Face, who is the king of new generation artistes, didn't finish from school, he is not only responsible but humble. Pride they say, comes before fall. For an artiste to call a fan 'broke' is uncalled for. One of the reasons I personally don't regard celebs is because like I always say, they are not better than a cleaner but only had a camera advantage on others. Fans put food in their tables and cater for them. I hope Wizkid has not forgot how he used to clean and run errands for some artistes at OJB Jezreel's studio in Surulere. How Banky W helped him to become what he is today, how this same fans spent their hard-earned money to buy his CDs, pay for VIP tickets just to hear him sing for less than 30mins when they can comfortably do that by buying his N50 CD at Alaba International Market. Lagos. If such fan who has paid N1million for a table to just hear him sing his 'jargons' is now being called broke and poor, then this is likely to be the beginning of the end of Wizkid. Read It HERE Maybe he should remember that no one reigns forever. Many years ago, Majek Fashek used to be the star, but today, where is he? This is not a sort of mockery of the veteran singer but our new stars should learn from mistakes of others to shape their lives. I hope tomorrow won't come and someone brings sentiment and sympathy to get Nigerians to help Wizkid, God forbid. But the fact is, whatever you sow, you shall reap. Nobody ever knew OJB Jezreel will cry out to Nigerians for help because he made money doing what he loved doing best some years ago. If he had called a fan back then 'broke', I wonder if anyone would help him today. Wizkid, you don't need to take my advice, but remember that 'pride comes before fall.'

Ini Edo Disgraced At Glo Slide Concert!

The last might not have been heard about Globacom's Slide and Bounce Concert held in Lagos last Sunday, August 11. Expectedly, all glo ambassadors are invited to honour the show; first to arrive, according to a source is Ini Edo, arrived earlier than the scheduled time, 6pm. Having found her way into the hall entrance of the Oriental hotel where the event was hosted, the bouncers, we gathered, refused to let her in with an excuse that they have not been instructed to allow guests in. The actress was found at the car park roaming and making some calls but it was not until 9.pm that a visibly offended Ini Edo was spotted being led into the hall by the duo of Jumobi Mofe-Damijo and Desmond Elliot. This untoward treatment continued when the compere, Okey Bakassi, acknowledged the presence of all the Glo ambassadors present, calling out their names one after the other, but leaving out Ini Edo’s name! This he did twice in a row and this must obviously have irked the actress. By the time okey Bakassi realised the error, Ini was said to have far gone. President Jonathan May Sack Some Ministers Today

Fear of cabinet shake-up, on Thursday, gripped many ministers as President Goodluck Jonathan convened an emergency Federal Executive Council meeting. The meeting will hold on Friday (today). The FEC holds its statutory meetings on Wednesday. It was gathered that with last week’s resignation of the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Mohammed Pate, a cabinet shake-up was imminent. A minister, who confided PunchNG, said, “There is fear among my colleagues that a cabinet shake-up is imminent. Currently, there is no minister of defence and the minister of state for health has just resigned. “Some of my colleagues have indicated their intention to contest governorship elections in some states. Such people will leave the cabinet. We do not know the agenda of the meeting. When will get there, we will know.” It was gathered that for the past two weeks, some ministers had been telling civil servants, close to them, that there might be swapping of positions in the President’s cabinet. The minister, who confided in one of our correspondents, said, “Some ministers of state are hoping to become substantive ministers with vacancies in the cabinet.” The Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade, had a few weeks ago declared his intention to contest the Ekiti State governorship in 2014. Our correspondent learnt that Jonathan informed cabinet members of the impending meeting during the last statutory meeting of the council on Wednesday. A Presidency source said, “There is nothing hidden about it. The President announced at the beginning of the last meeting that an emergency meeting will hold for about one hour or two on Friday. “The President did not give reasons for the meeting but it is not an unusual thing. Every statutory body holds extraordinary meetings apart from their normal meetings.” There were reports on Monday that five northern governors – Aliyu Babangida (Niger); Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto); Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Rabiu Kwankanso (Kano) and Muritala Nyako (Adamawa) – who met with the President on Saturday demanded the sacking of two ministers, Deziani Allison (Petroleum); and Stella Oduah (Aviation). A highly reliable Presidency source, however, said, “How could they have asked for the sack of the ministers, when they are not from their states?” Since his inauguration in May 2011, Jonathan has not carried out any major cabinet reshuffle. Five South African Police Beat Nigerian To Death

According to an online source the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court heard on Thursday in south Africa concerning the report of five Limpopo Police officers that beat a Nigerian man to death “I put it to you that you beat him, he fainted and you resuscitated him. He woke up and…you beat him again,” prosecutor Jacky Mabasa told the officers during cross-examination. “You also sprinkled water on him.” Onyechiabi Iwuaka was beaten to death by five South African police on May 21 while he was visiting a friend. His friend escaped the assault. Iwuaka died on the way to the Polokwane police station. The five police , Boitumelo Ramahlala, Mashiba Mathata, Collins Sekoati, Thabo Mabotja and Clement Tsotsane, face murder and assault charges. are accused of beaten They were applying for bail. According to what the court was told, the officers stopped on the way to the police station to buy water, as Iwuaka was bleeding from his ears. Mabasa said an ambulance was called for Iwuaka after he died “The reason you cannot tell me specifically what you did that day is because you assaulted him. That’s why you cannot tell what you did,” Mabasa said. The court was told Iwuaka was merely in his friend’s home, and was the wrong person to be arrested. The five evaded questions, and said they never accused or hurt anyone. This prompted magistrate Janine Ungerer to question if they shared the same holding cell. She suspected they had coached each other on how to respond to questions. The bail application was postponed to Monday.

FG approves N300m for capacity building for Nollywood

The Federal Government has approved N300 million out of the three billion naira intervention fund for capacity building to boost the Nigerian film industry. This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, Spokesman for the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. “Action on the three billion naira support promised the Nigerian film industry by President Goodluck Jonathan has formally commenced with the roll out of a N300 million capacity building fund.’’ The statement noted that the capacity building fund was the first of a series of initiatives planned under “Project Act Nollywood’’, adding that It was made up of two components. According to the statement, the first component is a Training Fund of N150 million, dedicated to training and skills acquisition for Nollywood practitioners in all competencies along the entire value chain of the industry. The statement said it include; scriptwriting, directing, production and production design, special effects, lighting, sound, HD techniques, acting, cinematography, make-up and editing, among others. It said that the second component was the Capacity Development Fund which was also worth N150 million. According to the statement, grants will be given to existing Nigerian-owned private institutes that offer training courses, programmes, and technical certification in the movie industry. The statement said the fund might be used to upgrade existing facilities, procure equipment and develop internal capacity to offer a set of courses and training programmes that would address key skills gaps. It said that institutes to benefit from the fund must have a prove of registration from Jan. 1, 2013, and be competent enough to train people according to global best practices. The statement said that the intervention Project ACT Nollywood, would be managed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and the Minister of Tourism, Chief Edem Duke. Okonjo-Iweala in the statement said the establishment of the fund underscored government’s commitment to supporting Nollywood in recognition of its contributions to the economy. “This is the first of the initiatives planned under Project Act Nollywood, and it shows that the president is keeping his word to the industry and to Nigerians. “Nollywood deserves this support because it has added value to the economy by creating jobs and acting as an ambassador to the country. “It is also projecting Nigeria to many parts of the world that hitherto, knew little or nothing about the country,” it quoted Okonjo-Iweala as saying. It said that the overall objective of Project Act Nollywood was to support the industry in a sustainable way that practitioners could leverage on to improve their capacity and output in key areas. “The fund is open for applications from July to December 2013. Courses commencing after Dec. 31st are eligible provided the application is received before Dec. 31 2013.’’ It said that guidelines for applications indicated that applicants must be Nigerians and industry practitioners among other requirements. 10 Year Old Nigerian Girl Zuriel Elise Oduwole has set a new world record for Nigeria as she is named as the the youngest person ever to be interviewed in Forbes. The interview with the award winning documentary film maker, conference speaker and writer is featured in the August 2013 edition of Forbes Africa. At just 10, whizkid Zuriel possesses amazing talent that has resulted in her interviewing business leaders, current and past world leaders and heads of states. They include the current Presidents of Tanzania, Mauritius, and Malawi–one of Africa’s only two female national leaders. Others are ex-presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Kufuor of Ghana. Zuriel has also had a one-on-one interview with Africa’s most successful businessman, Mr. Aliko Dangote. GIST: The Real Reason Why Chris Attioh Quit Tinsel, Gbenro Ajibade on Suspension

It would be recalled that Ghanaian actor and one of the leading roles in MNET’s big soapie, Tinsel – Chris Attoh, issued a letter of resignation from the ongoing series claiming he was quitting to pursue other career interests, it appears there is more to the case. Reports has it that he was forced to resigned because he was on the verge of being sacked so it was either he quit by tendering a resignation letter or get sacked, in fact the Tinsel management did him a big favor by asking him to resign. U.K. Investigates Winners’ Chapel Over Alleged Misappropriation of 4bn Naira Tithes

The United Kingdom’s Charity Commission is investigating the U.K. branch of David Oyedepo’s Winner Chapel over the alleged misappropriation of at least £16 million (N4 billion) collected as tithes between 2008 and 2011, the U.K. Guardian is reporting. Over N250 million (£1 million) of that amount is said to have been repatriated to the Nigeria headquarters of the church between 2009 and 2011, the church’s account shows. A spokesperson of the charity commission told the Guardian newspapers that investigations “regarding the charity’s management and policies” are on-going. “We have considered documents and information shared by the trustees and our case is continuing,” she said. The congregants of the U.K. branch of the church are allegedly given credit cards forms to make donations as they arrive for service. The forms are inscribed with a verse from the Bible’s Book of Corinthians which reads, “God loveth a cheerful giver.” Documents submitted to the Charity Commission show the parent organisation of the church, £8 million rich World Mission Agency, makes paltry donations to charity causes. Its books shows it donated N2.6 million (£10,500) to Great Ormond Street Children’s hospital and N2.2 million (£9,000) to Christian Aid for the Haiti earthquake appeal and N625, 000 (£2,500) to charities in the Lewisham area of London. In contrast, it transferred N81.2 million (£324,683) and N165.8 million (£663,532) to world headquarters in Nigeria in 2010 and 2011 respectively. In 2009 and 2010 N48, 000,000 was set aside for “welfare assistance” for unnamed “certain member of the church.” The Church also claimed it spent N37.25million “for charitable activities in Africa.” David Oyedepo, who is believed to be the richest pastor in Nigeria, lives a life of opulence. He, through his church, owns at least three private jets and one of the most expensive private universities in the country. The Nigerian headquarters of the church prides itself as having the biggest church auditorium in the world. The auditorium sits over 50,000 congregants. “All of us have a growing concern about any kind of mercenary response that puts cash at the centre of Christian faith. I challenge any movement, including Winners, to be open and account for its money wherever it goes because it comes originally from hard-working faithful people,” said Joel Edwards, a senior figure in the British evangelical movement and director of the Micah Challenge which is running Exposed, a global anti-corruption campaign directed at churches, business and government
