NOLLYWOOD AT 20 CELEBRATIONS TO BEGIN WITH CELEBRITY GLAM NIGHT


The Nollywood at 20 Celebrations programme will commence with a big bang on Saturday, November 2 at a grand opening event tagged Nollywood Celebrity Glam Night at the magnificent Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos. The world-class
 event will have in attendance the crème de la crème of Nigeria’s elite in governance, politics, business and industry, the diplomatic community, arts and culture as well as Nigerian and international motion-picture industry. The event seeks to build on the game-changing contributions of key stakeholders to the meteoric rise of Nollywood, including President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and other personality brand icons that have made Nollywood the most sought-after export brand that it is today across Africa, the Caribbean, Europe and parts of America. The 25-day Nollywood at 20 celebrations fiesta will climax on November 27, with the Nollywood at 20 Grand Awards Night. Some other features of the celebrations include a charity novelty football match, special master class sessions for practitioners, coaching clinics for Nigerian youth and upcoming motion picture practitioners, special charity-support activities, an anniversary Jumat service as well as a thanksgiving service at the Rock Cathedral, Lekki, Lagos. The Nollywood at 20 organisers have promised to deliver a world-class event as they also celebrate great personalities and institutions that have brought the Nollywood industry this far. The programme also seeks to develop more effective partnership platforms for moving Nollywood to the next level. The President of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) and initiator of the project, Zik Zulu Okafor, has promised that guests and millions of television viewers in Nigeria and around the world will be treated to the most exciting and exhilarating event in sub-Saharan Africa as the Nollywood Celebrity Glam Night event will be covered by M-Net Africa, NTA, AIT, CHANNELS, STV, UK’s SKY TV, among other stations as well as the national print media and beamed across over 48 countries in Africa, the Caribbean and Europe. It is estimated that with additional online streaming Nollywood at 20 will be seen by over 2 billion eyes across the globe.
